2019 Ford Edge ST

Who says that this world can’t stand one more crossover? That’s not true for sure. Moreover, there’s plenty of room for this kind of vehicle, especially when they offer something extraordinary as it definitely offers the all-new 2019 Ford Edge ST.

ST badges are usually used for hot hatchbacks, but this time, however, the producer has decided to put it on a crossover. The Edge may be the first with it, but it’s not definitely the last because the carmaker owns a number of interesting high-riding vehicles, which can easily become high-performance models. In any case, the all-new vehicle is using a new engine and suspension. As for the suspension, well, the SUV is ST-tuned for better responses and handling. On the other hand, the engine is basically just an updated 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, which can deliver 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The current Edge Sport uses the same V6, though there are 20 horsepower and 30 lb-ft less. In contrast to the outgoing Sport model that’s mated to a six-speed auto gearbox, the 2019 Ford Edge ST is exclusively paired with an eight-speed auto transmission and all-wheel drive. Ford didn’t want to say is this going to improve some performance results or not, yet we are sure that the newcomer beats predecessor’s current 0-60 mph time on with ease.

The Edge ST rides on a bit larger wheels. More precisely, the crossover is paired with five-spoke wheels in gloss black, which are further mated to large brakes. The non-cosmetic exterior changes are positioned around back. More precisely, the crossover uses all-new exhaust pipes. As for the rest of the redesign changes, well, there’s a totally new grille, which is significantly higher. The LEDs are pushed at corners to boost the overall impression, while the new hood sits a bit lower than before.

Ford added a few new things inside as well. The vehicle will offer a leather-treated steering wheel and pretty aggressive bolstered front seats. There’s also a new range of safety features. The SUV will be safer thanks to a hill-start assist, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert. Auto high-beams and lane keep assist, as well as a forward collision warning with brake support is also standard, yet the potential buyers will have to pay extra for Active park assist. The 2019 Ford Edge ST uses a new Wi-Fi hot-spot feature, which enables up to 10 devices with a range of approximately 50 foot.

The attractive SUV has been introduced at the 2018 North American International Auto Show, but it’s not going to become available before this summer. Ford hasn’t set any price at the moment.
