2019 Mazda3 Skyactiv-X Technology Previewed: Promises Diesel Efficiency and Torque for Gasoline Engines

While the majority of carmakers try to hide as much as it’s possible, Mazda’s testing vehicle is here to show that’s coming in the future. The Japanese producer hasn’t shown the design of course, but we know it’s the 2019 Mazda3 SkyActiv-X simply because the car features Skyactiv-X graphics across the side.

Now when we know that Mazda’s new generation hatchback is getting the Skyactiv-X technology, we are wondering what that is. Well, this means the car will feature a Spark Controlled Compression Engine, which will bring major increases in torque and efficiency. We have nothing official yet, but some reports indicate that the 2019 Mazda3 should feature a gasoline engine or engines which will boost efficiency between 35 and 45 percent. More precisely, the SCCI will reportedly improve both fuel economy and torque of gasoline engine, matching the fuel economy of a diesel engine of the same size. Yes, the torque is said to be better for 20-30 percent, which is also a whopping result.

The prototype of the 2019 Mazda3 is totally covered, but regardless of the fact, we can’t see what’s new here. It’s highly possible that the carmaker uses the existing model for the testing of the new engine. Still, this doesn’t mean the hatchback won’t feature anything new except the engine. Mazda should introduce an evolutionary redesign, but what’s far more important, the new generation Mazda3 will grow up in size. The carmaker plans to makes it wider and longer, which promises more space inside. Still, these are just rumors, so we have to with for the full-body prototype, which should come out to streets in a few months.

Speaking of the arrival, the next-generation Mazda3 hatchback should be introduced in around six months from now.
