2019 Mercedes-Benz EQC Spotted Ahead Of 2018 Geneva Motor Show Debut

German dedication is something we really like. As we recall, Mercedes has previewed its EQ (Electric Intelligence) lineup with a concept vehicle at the last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. We’ve caught a prototype of the compact crossover a few months ago and we were pretty sure that the vehicle is not going to be ready before late 2019. Well, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz EQC is ready as we speak. Moreover, the all-electric compact SUV is going to be officially introduced in a few weeks at the upcoming 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The interesting vehicle is not going to come along. No, the producer is going to match it with its first-ever electric hatchback, so-called EQA model.

As for the electric crossover, well, we’ve spied the testing vehicle once again. It’s still completely wrapped around, so we can’t really how it going to look at the upcoming EQC. What we see is pretty much the same footprint as GLC’s. Still, this doesn’t mean that these two are going to share anything. Moreover, the electric crossover will certainly use a different platform.

According to our sources, the model will rely on the MEA (Modular Electric Architecture), which will support the aforementioned hatchback too. The platform is highly scalable and modular, so you can expect more Mercedes’ electric models in the near future. It’s also very specific because it holds batteries strictly on the floor. Thus the vehicle saves the space and lowers the center of gravity. In addition, the architecture allows electric motors to be hooked to both front and rear axles.

This will be the case with the 2019 Mercedes-Benz EQC. The compact electric SUV will use two electric motors, one for each axle, which will be enough for an output of approximately 400 horsepower. Mercedes has promised a 70-kWh battery and a range of at least 300 miles on a single charge, though the crossover may also get a bigger, better, and more expensive option later.

There is nothing on price at the moment, but we will found out everything about the 2019 EQC after the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
