The Kia Seltos is a subcompact, crossover SUV, built by Kia Motors. Based on the Kia SP Signature concept car, the name comes from “Celtos,” the son of Hercules in Greek mythology. According to Kia, the Seltos addresses millennials specifically, because “big, tech-savvy buyers” want a vehicle that stands out from the crowd.

In February 2018 the Kia Seltos introduced a concept car called the SP Concept that was revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo. The SP Prototype matched up quite closely with the current mass-production car. The Seltos was launched in South Korea on 18 July 2019, and in the Philippines on 6 November 2019, with a launch in various global markets outside Europe by the end of the year.

India

It is the first offer by Kia Motor India after their entry into the country. The crossover was launched on 20th June 2019 in New Delhi, India. Kia had received 32.035 reservations for Seltos by the time it became eligible on 22 August 2019. The Seltos later emerged as the bestselling SUV for the nation in October 2019 by delivering 12,854 units. The diesel engine is a 1.5 liter U-Line unit that produces 113 horsepower coupled with an automatic manual 6-speed transmission or torque converter. The Indian-made Seltos has a different internal dashboard configuration with a head unit in a semi-Mercedes style that is integrated together with the speedometer, along with the Chinese-badged Kia KX3 variant. The front hood is also specially retained as it ends in front of the bumper while the regional Seltos finishes in front of the Kia logo creating a gap line interrupting the front edge.

The Kia Seltos Indian variant is sold to several countries mainly emerging markets, including South Africa, Thailand, Latin America, the Middle East, and other South Asian markets.

United States

Unlike Seltos Global, the U.S. Seltos market has a distinct front end promising a better angle of approach for off-road lighting. The US-bound Kia Seltos has two cylinders. The first one is a natural-aspirated 2.0-liter, with 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft. And as for the torque. This motor is standard on the LX, S, then EX and is powered by Kia’s Intelligent Variable Transmission or IVT.

The second option is a 1.6-liter turbo engine which produces 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft. And as for the torque. The Kia Seltos are sold by Kia in two trims: Tech Line and GT Edition. The Tech Line comes in five models: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX+ graded between Rs 9.89 lakh and Rs 16.34 lakh. The GT Line can be purchased from Rs 13.79 lakh to Rs 17.34 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India) in three models: GTK, GTX, and GTX+-.

Kia Seltos Engine:

This comes with three engine options that conform with BS6: 1.5-liter gasoline, 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline, and 1.5-liter diesel. Although the 1.5-liter petrol engine is rated at 115PS/144Nm, 115PS/250Nm is brought out by the diesel engine. Kia cites a fuel efficiency of 16.5kmpl for the diesel manual and 16.8kmpl for the models of Diesel-CVT. The estimated fuel efficiency figure for the diesel manual is 21kmpl whereas the6-speed AT’s is 18kmpl. The 1.4-liter turbo-petrol paired with the DCT has a claimed 16.5kmpl mileage while 16.1kmpl is returned by the manual.
