You don’t have to buy a crossover if you need some additional cargo space. But you knew that already. The popularity of wagons isn’t on the highest branches at the moment, yet some of the models are really amazing, and worth of attention. One of this kind is Jaguar’s XF Sportbrake wagon that is coming totally redesigned in the coming year. The British car producer already previewed the arrival of the 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake at the last Paris Motor Show, but the official debut will likely happen at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. Another thing, the impressive vehicle will also arrive in North America for the first time.
EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR REDESIGN
We already saw the prototype of the upcoming XF Sportbrake, but since it is completely camouflaged, we can’t say for sure what is going on beneath. Judging by the spy shots we have, the wagon sports the same front end as the sedan. The hood gets very interesting, sleek design, while the front fascia features rectangular framed grille and ultra-slim headlights. As you may notice, there will be rather big air intakes too. The new alloy wheels with red-painted brake calipers will be borrowed from the sedan sibling as well. On the other hand, the rear end will be completely new and more pronounced than earlier. We are not sure, but there is a good chance that the new generation XF Sportbrake gets some additional length, perhaps two inches.
Step inside, and you will see nothing but luxury. The outstanding wagon is going to have really elegant, quite simple dashboard. The dash will sport an 8.0-inch screen with Jaguar’s new InTouch interface, while the higher trims could have bigger 10.3 inches and 12.3-inch screens, just like the XF sedan offers. Of course, the interior will get leather and chrome treatment, which additionally boost the luxury.
The new generation wagon will ride on a new aluminum-intensive platform, so it will definitely cut some weights. This means it will feature better fuel economy too. As for the engine options, there will be new 2.0-liter gasoline and diesel, as well as a brilliant supercharged 3.0-liter unit. This mill will be able to deliver up to 380 horsepower. All options will be paired with a familiar and really smooth ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
TOP DOG MODEL GETS 575 HP
According to our insider, the automaker will definitely offer a range-topping 2018 Jaguar XF SVR Sportbrake model. This model will borrow an impressive powertrain from the new the F-Type SVR. It’s a 5.0-liter V8 mill, which is capable to deliver 575 horsepower.
Except of the European and North American versions that will be pretty much the same, Jaguar will also offer a long-wheelbase model, which will be exclusively sold in China.
