2018 Mercedes-Amg C63 Coupe Gets Facelift Changes And a New Gearbox

Mercedes’ AMG department is constantly surprising us with some wild options. Today our photographers caught a prototype of the facelifted 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe. The awesome car seems to have something new to offer. More precisely, it’s featuring an updated exterior and interior, as well as a bit improved performance.

New gearbox

No, we don’t think that the outstanding vehicle is getting a new engine. The current 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 already develops more than enough power, so there is no need for a more potent engine. However, this 510 horsepower strong machine might be paired with a new gearbox. Unofficially, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe will switch its 7-speed with an all-new 9-speed automatic transmission, but that’s not confirmed at the moment.

Maybe more power

Speaking of the unconfirmed information, we need to mention that AMG boosted its GT S. The gorgeous car now pumps out 515 horsepower from the same 4.0-liter unit, so they might add these 5 additional ponies to the C63 Coupe as well.

Mid-cycle refresh

The handsome coupe looks better than every worthy rival already, so we don’t know what the carmaker could do to improve the design inside and out. However, it appears that the exterior might bring a totally new front end styling with a redesigned grille and restyled bumper. The tweaks will have an influence on headlights and taillights as well, while the rear bumper may also get a few new details. The biggest changes inside will be a completely new steering wheel and a lack of rotary dial controllers. Instead, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe will feature touchpad controllers.

Arrival

The refreshed car will make its official debut next spring at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The U.S. public will likely have to wait a little bit longer until the 2018 New York auto show. Read More
