2018 Nissan Qashqai At The 2017 Detroit Auto Show?

Nissan is getting ready to introduce one more crossover in North America. According to the newest rumors, the popular carmaker will try to fill the gap between the Rogue and Juke with the 2018 Nissan Qashqai. The solution is quite simple and maybe very good because the Qashqai is currently one of the best-selling European Nissans. The only thing that the manufacturer may reconsider to change is the name. We are pretty sure that the vast majority of Americans can’t pronounce accurately “Qashqai”, and this is bad for business.

The US-specs 2018 Nissan Qashqai will reportedly arrive at the 2017 Detroit auto show. This isn’t too complicated at all, because the current model came redesigned last year, so there is no need for any big preparations. The North American model could get some mild styling changes and perhaps some new color options, but nothing else new, at least not from the outside. The interior should get a more glamorous design, especially the base model, which could feature some new cues and better equipment.

The US Nissan Qashqai will definitely appear without diesel engines. In Europe, the crossover gets 1.5-liter and 1.6-liter diesel, but this is too much for Americans. The producer will rather offer the existing gasoline mill, which is a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated and 1.2-liter turbo, and perhaps one more, more powerful unit. Perhaps the range-topping model could get a new turbocharged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder VC-T engine. The drivetrain is really something, so the US 2018 Qashqai might become very popular right away.

As we said, the US 2018 Nissan Qashqai will appear at the upcoming Detroit auto show, and if this actually happens, we will have more information about the interesting crossover in the coming days.
