2018 Range Rover Velar Coupe-SUV Teased ahead of 2017 Geneva Motor Show

Whether the world needs one more coupe-like SUV? Well, it largely depends on whose signature stands in the front of the vehicle. This time, we vote “yes” because the all-new fancy-schmancy high-riding car comes from land Rover. Yes, the British manufacturer has made the 2018 Range Rover Velar coupe-SUV that’s going to make the official debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

Since the producer released just one teaser it’s pretty hard to say whether the Velar can compete with German’s rivals (BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe), but keeping in mind it comes from land Rover, we are sure it will be a worthy rival.

Judging by the teaser and some previous spy shots, the 2018 Range Rover Velar will get pretty much the same footprint as the BMW X6. It’s going to ride on the lightweight architecture that’s introduced with the F-Pace, so it might share the same drivetrain as well. If this actually happens, the Velar will be introduced with a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 that produces 340 and 380 horsepower. No matter which one option you choose, you will get an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive setup. Sometime later, the carmaker will also introduce a topping model with a larger engine and possibly an efficient plug-in hybrid. Still, this won’t happen right away. Read More

Styling-wise, the 2018 Velar SUV will sport some familiar and some totally new cues. The carmaker borrowed the front-end styling from the Range Rover Sport, which will do the trick without any doubt. However, around the back, the car shows something completely new and exciting. It sports sleek rooflines and fastback hatch along with aggressive taillights. Step inside and you will see some pretty interesting details. The panoramic roof reveals a pretty big infotainment display and unusual steering wheel with plenty of buttons. The dash also sports a pair of air vents and analog gauges, while the seats appear to have leather upholstery.

According to Land Rover, the 2018 Range Rover Velar will behave revealed on March 1st, a few days ahead of Geneva Motor Show. This will give us more information about the coupe-SUV, so stay tuned for updates.
