We already knew that Toyota is working on the new generation Camry, yet we are really surprised by the new testing model. Judging by some specific details, the model you see is actually the redesigned high-performance car. Yes, the Japanese manufacturer is working on the 2018 Toyota Camry TRD.

We know because we already saw several testing models of the regular model. This one on the other hand sports a bit different kit. As you may be noticed, there are more aggressive wheels and tires, as well as quad exhaust tips, which go with the TRD version only. In addition, there is a wider grille and more angular headlights, while the bumper seems to be notably lower and more massive. As a matter of fact, the compete nose looks more downward.

Toyota’s sport-oriented model will likely get automaker’s newest 3.5-liter V-6 engine. The unit currently delivers 295 horsepower, but we are sure that the 2018 Camry TRD gets more, at least 300 HP. If not, then you can expect an eight-speed auto, which will send the power to the front wheels only. No, we don’t believe there will be an all-wheel-drive, but you never know for sure. For example, some sources say that the vehicle could come powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit. Well, we think there is no chance to happen because this engine produces around 240 horsepower, and this is not enough for the battle with more powerful opponents.

Anyway, the regular Camry model should be introduced in early 2017, while the high-performance TRD version might come a few months later. Let’s say at the 2017 New York auto show? The price, on the other hand, should not go over $35,000.
