2018 Dodge Challenger Demon Scheduled For 2017 New York Auto Show

We thought that we won’t see anything better than the new Challenger Hellcat anytime soon, but Dodge surprised us once again. The carmaker plans to bring back one pretty forgotten name into use. What’s more crazy, the car is scheduled to debut at the 2017 New York auto show, so we wonder how we haven’t seen any prototype until now. The vehicle will be named the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and will be the car with heavier weapons from the 707 hp strong 6.2-liter Hellcat engine.

Now, the carmaker hasn’t said anything specific about the upcoming car or its engine, but they said it will be a halo car. This should mean that they are working on an all-new sports car. We think that because they call it a “halo car”, and this requires more than bigger wheels and fresh paint. The new 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon should get a completely new engine as well. We think that the carmaker can’t boost the Hellcat engine anymore. If you remember, Dodge’s engineers originally wanted 600 hp from the unit, but in the end, the mill stopped at 707 horsepower, which should be the final figure.

No matter which one unit will be under the hood, people from Dodge are pretty sure it will more powerful and quicker than the Challenger Hellcat, and we belie them. Read More

As for the Demon, well the name was never in the relationship with Challenger. It was introduced with the 1971 Dart and had a V8 engine, which was capable of producing 275 horsepower.  This was the best Dart without any doubt.
