2019 Jaguar I-Pace Introduced and Priced At $70,495

Tesla may reconsider the price of the current Model X. The SUV is highly popular these days, but that’s easy while you don’t have any kind of competitor. Well, this is going to change pretty soon, because most of the carmakers are working on their high-riding EVs. Moreover, Jaguar has introduced the 2019 I-Pace SUV at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show and surprised everyone with a fairly low starting price. According to the British car manufacturer, the price of the electric crossover is going to start at exactly $70,495 including the destination charge.

The base version of the Tesla Model X costs $80,700, so you do the count. The difference is going to be even bigger when the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace hits the showrooms because by that time Tesla will sell over 200,000 models. This is a very important fact because $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles only applies to the first 200,000 EVs. The price is even lower in California and New York thanks to additional rebates of $2,500 and $2,000.

Of course, this is important if you don’t need over five seats because unlike the Model X’s available third-row of seating, the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace is limited to two rows only. However, the British model offers certain features, which you won’t be able to find in the base Model X. The biggest advantage is the standard 90-kWh battery without any doubt. Yes, the electric crossover is using the same powertrain for every trim. The battery is supplying two electric motors, one for each axle, which delivers a respectable output of 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque, and a whopping driving range of 240 miles. Plus, the crossover is able to speed up from 0 to 60 mph in only 4.5 seconds and it’s limited to 124 mph.

The potential buyers are not going to worry about the battery life because Jaguar gives a guarantee on the battery for 8 years or 100,000 miles. The system also uses a standard 7-kW onboard charger that significantly cuts charging time of the SUV when it’s compared with any other household outlet.

The U.S. debut is scheduled for the 2018 New York Auto Show. The sale will start in the second half of the year.
