Toyota’s luxury division is working on an updated high-performance coupe. Yes, our photographers managed to catch a prototype at the Nürburgring, which seems to be the refreshed 2019 Lexus RC F. Aside it’s getting some obvious changes from the outside, the amazing car will host one more, hotter engine.
Today’s RC F was introduced in 2015, so this could only be a mid-cycle update. This means that the performance coupe isn’t getting any serious changes regarding the styling or platform. Instead, the 2019 model appears to feature redesigned air intakes and a pair of new LED running lights in the front. Around back, the manufacturer replaced the bumper with and added a new diffuser. Although completely camouflaged, the sides seem almost unchanged. Though, we think that sills seem a little bit rounder.
In case you don’t see, the prototype features wires, which are connected with the engine and rear wheels. This means that the 2019 Lexus RC F won’t receive just a mere cosmetic update, but something new under the hood as well. As we have heard, the existing 5.0-liter V-8 with 467 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque will get more power. However, the option is limited to 471 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of twist, which can’t really compete with the biggest rivals. Still, the updated coupe will reportedly get one more option beneath the hood. It’s an all-new Biturbo 4.0-liter V8, which will have a staggering output of 600 horsepower and 470 pound-feet torque. Not bad at all!
We don’t have any confirmed information, yet we think that the 2019 RC F should be introduced next spring, most likely at the 2018 New York auto show.
