According to the information we have, the 2020 Escalade will keep its body-on-frame architecture. Though, the existing and outdated solid-rear axle won’t be a part of the SUV. Instead, the high-riding large vehicle will likely rely on the independent rear suspension and air suspension. You probably know countless benefits from this switch. However, our first impression is that the SUV finally gets lowered flat cargo floor. Welcome to the 21st-century Escalade!
The fifth-generation Cadillac Escalade will get a new engine as well. Today’s thirsty 6.2-liter V-8 mill will get a worthy replacement, which will reportedly develop around 500 horsepower or even more. The power will come from an upcoming 4.2-liter twin-turbo DOHC V8 engine, that’s going to be mated either to the rear or all four wheels, depending on what the potential buyer wants. In contrast to the existing eight-speed auto gearbox, the engine will be paired with a new 10-speed transmission. The base, short-wheelbase new generation Escalade will be hit the U.S. dealerships before the end of 2019 with a starting price a little bit south from $75k. However, the new long-wheelbase version should wait a little bit longer, probably the 2020 spring. The price of the fully-loaded ESV Platinum might be a bit over $100K.
