Hyundai’s Grandmaster concept made debut earlier this year at the Busan Motor Show. The large concept previewed a pair of full-size SUVs (one from Hyundai and another from Kia), which are going to be introduced sometime next year. Both of them are going to offer to seat for up to 8 passengers, plenty of space for all of them, and spacious cargo. Plus, the Korean manufacturers will load them with the latest technologies while there should be plenty of interesting options under the hood. Our photographers have managed to catch the upcoming 2020 Hyundai Palisade a few days ago. This was not the first time we saw the future SUV while it is testing, but the new prototype definitely reveals more than the earlier one.
Design Details
This time Hyundai didn’t bother to hide the front end. More precisely, the 2020 Palisade shows its interesting cascade grille. The automaker introduced a similar grille with the small Kona crossover, so this is not surprising at all. Still, we have to mention that the Palisade’s grill looks far better and more expensive thanks to a better-integrated slot. The front end gets the split headlight setup which is also a pretty familiar feature. It combines a pair of slim headlights and quite large for lamps. Below, the bumper hosts a large air intake. Around back, the SUV appears to get a totally flat shape. There should be a pair of oval exhaust tips when the production model arrives, while the taillights seem to be horizontal and oversized. The profile of the high-riding vehicle reveals Grandmaster’s shape and the same chrome strip between A- and C-pillars. We can’t guarantee at the moment, but it looks like the 2020 Hyundai Palisade may be a bit larger than the Ford Expedition. That’s important because the Blue Oval SUV is going to be Palisade’s biggest rival.

Engines and Transmission of Hyundai Palisade
Hyundai’s future flagship SUV will use powerful engines. The base model will rely on a 3.3-liter V6 with 290 horsepower. The carmaker will not skip the chance to offer a bi turbocharged 3.3-liter mill which will is capable to pump out 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of twist, as well as a 5.0-liter V8 unit. Plus, the Grandmaster concept will contribute with its own hybrid powertrain that combines a 3.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. Altogether, the system makes 400 horsepower. No matter which one unit the potential buyer chooses it’s going to get a standard all-wheel-drive and eight-speed automatic transmission.
Price
The Korean car manufacturer has no intention to reveal the actual price before it introduces the 2020 Hyundai Palisade sometime next year. However, since it’s going to attack the segment where the Expedition and Suburban rule it can’t be more expensive than they are now. Meaning, the price will start at around $50K.
