JEEP YUNTU HYBRID CONCEPT SUV TEASED: IT’S READY FOR 2017 SHANGHAI AUTO SHOW

Do you know what it means Yuntu? Well, it’s a cloud in China, but not in Jeep. The carmaker plans to introduce an all-new concept SUV at the 2017 Shanghai auto show, which is going to be named the Jeep Yuntu. Judging by the teaser shots, the upcoming SUV isn’t cloudy at all, but it’s a pretty interesting piece of metal.

According to our sources, the Jeep Yuntu will preview a totally new powertrain. Yes, and what’s more important, it’s some kind of hybrid mill, which should become available under the hood of other Jeeps.

Styling-wise, the concept SUV sports overemphasized exterior design, with several pretty common details. There is an unavoidable seven-slat grille and pretty familiar wheel arches stolen from the latest Compass. As for the rest of the bodywork, it features unique styling cues. The front-end styling gets an aggressive hood with ultra-thin headlights and striking fog lamps. SUV’s wheels are pretty large, which is common for every concept, while the floating rooflines make the vehicle attractive. Around back, the Jeep Yuntu looks very wide, but we are not impressed with the taillights and bumper as all.

The teaser shots don’t reveal SUV’s interior styling, but the latest reports suggest it will have a three-row arrangement. Of course, the carmaker won’t skip the chance to shows some futuristic details inside, so we are really looking forward to the 2017 Shanghai auto show and the arrival of the cloudy Jeep Yuntu.
