On Platform and styling of Ramcharger

It isn’t too hard to imagine Ram SUV at all. Moreover, it’s quite simple, because it should share most of the styling cues and mechanics with the 2019 Ram 1500. Since the pickup truck sibling is getting a new, lighter, and better architecture, the 2019 Ramcharger SUV will also use that underpinning.

Styling-wise, the SUV will also steal some cues from the next-gen 1500 truck. Luckily for us, we know already what’s cooling there. As you may see from the leaked photo, both Ram 1500 and Ramcharger will feature a modern nose with plenty of completely new details such as the impressive grille and stylish LED headlights. The picture reveals skid plates as well, meaning it’s going to be off-road-focused as well. As for the rest of the bodywork, well, we don’t expect anything too fancy at all. The manufacturer will definitely skip these days popular coupe-like styling for sure. Instead, the 2019 Ramcharger SUV likely gets a conventionally boxy shape. Of course, since it’s planned to compete with Ford’s Expedition, Chevrolet Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, the 2019 Ramcharger SUV will feature pretty much the same footprint. Yes, it’s going to be a proper full-size SUV with the ability to accommodate seven or eight passengers.

Probable Engine Options

It’s not completely clear what’s going to power Ram full-size SUV, simply because we don’t know what’s going to be under the hood of the 2019 Ram 1500. As far as we know, the carmaker is currently working on replacements for 3.6-liter Pentastar and 5.7-liter HEMI, so they might power the Ramcharger SUV as well. The first is rumored to be a turbocharged I-4 with the ability to deliver up to 300 horsepower. The second option is a turbocharged I-6 engine. The unit should replace the HEMI and should be capable of producing around 400 hp. If these two don’t come, you can expect 3.6-liter Pentastar and 5.7-liter HEMI under the hood of the Ram full-size SUV. Of course, the manufacturer might add the topping Hellcat model if the SUV becomes payable. Read More
