2018 GMC Yukon Denali Gets Redesigned Grille and 10-Speed Automatic Transmission

We can’t really say that the GMC Yukon could compete with Cadillac’s Escalade SUV, but it’s a pretty capable piece of metal without any doubt. Moreover, the range-topping Denali trim offers almost Escalade’s level of luxury and pretty impressive performance. This is why the carmaker pays most of the attention on the “chrome” trim, and that’s why I decided to refresh only the 2018 GMC Yukon Denali.

New grille, interesting cabin

The topper sports pretty new face now. More precisely, the manufacturer added a redesigned and sculpted grille, which will enable better airflow for SUV’s cooling system. Plus, it sports active aero shutters behind the grille that are closing on the highway and thus boost the fuel economy. Of course, the grille is paired with HID headlamps and LED signature lights.

GMC will continue to offer both Yukon and the stretched Yukon XL Denali trims, and both will feature a gorgeous interior styling and impressive equipment. The passengers will be able to enjoy heated and ventilated seats and head-up displays. Of course, the SUV gets an impressive 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation. Plus, there are standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot plan, wireless phone charging, and a hands-free power liftgate, as well as a brilliant Mastique Ash real wood trim.

10-speed gearbox for GMC Yukon

The 2018 GMC Yukon Denali will use the same engine, but the efficiency will be improved in comparison to the predecessor. No, the refreshed SUV won’t be lighter or less potent. A familiar 6.2-liter V-8 engine will stay the only option and will continue to deliver 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of twist. However, in place of the current eight-speed auto gearbox, the full-size high-riding vehicle will receive a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Since the new gearbox features a wider ratio, the economy must be better. Plus, there are the aforementioned active aero shutters.

Price and arrival

According to the carmaker, the 2018 Yukon Denali will hit the U.S. dealerships this fall. The price isn’t officially announced at the moment, yet we don’t expect anything less from $67K.
