2019 Lexus ES: Redesigned Sedan Teased Ahead Of 2018 Beijing Auto Show

The all-new 2019 Lexus ES has been teased ahead of its official debut which has been scheduled for the upcoming 2018 Beijing auto show. The impressive sedan has shown just its new spindle grille so far, but we think we know pretty much everything that regards the redesign already.

According to the latest reports, the redesigned ES will ride on the same platform as the Toyota Camry. This is basically just a stretched version of the awesome TNGA architecture. By using the platform, the 2019 Lexus ES will definitely become lighter and lower. This will have a positive influence on the car’s fuel economy and handling without any doubt.

Aside from we’ve seen the whopping grille, which is undoubtedly the most impressive part of the sedan we’ve also seen its face on some leaked image a few days ago. The new-gen Lexus ES will host a pair of more aggressive headlights, which are surrounded by some chrome. The material prevails in the front, so we assume it will be available in the back and on sides too.

Under the hood, the luxury sedan will offer at least two drivetrain options. The standard ES 350 will probably use a 3.5-liter V-6. The engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and will develop 301 horsepower. The future ES 300h will most likely get either Camry’s hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.5-liter inline-4 with an e-CVT, or UX’s powertrain. The subcompact crossover is paired with a gas 4-cylinder and an electric motor that’s going to be fed by a nickel-metal-hydride battery.

We can’t really judge whether the 2019 Lexus ES will look better than the new Toyota Camry. Though, the carmaker’s premium department should make the option more classy, which means that the real fun should start inside of the sedan. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen the cabin so far, so let’s wait for the official debut which will happen in the coming days.
