Jeep’s iconic Woody is knocking on the doors as we speak, but that’s not any big news at all. No, the big news is the arrival of the high-performance version of the SUV, which is going to be introduced as the 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Trackhawk. The mighty model has been indirectly confirmed thanks to an internal document from German powertrain component maker ZF, which supplies Fiat Chrysler with 8HP and 9HP transmissions.
The document not only confirms the arrival of the 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Trackhawk but also reveals what’s going to power the high-performance model. According to the paper, the full-size SUV will rely on an awesome 6.2-liter V8. The Hellcat option will reportedly deliver 718 horsepower under the hood, which will make the Woody one of the most powerful SUV available, and definitely, the most potent high-riding option ever made at the U.S. soil. The engine will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission which will supply the all-wheel-drive system with the power.
The carmaker still hides the details that regard the SUV, so it’s still unclear in which direction will go the design of the upcoming flagship. Still, since we are talking about the vanilla option, it’s expected to see some special styling cues, such as an enlarged air intake, larger wheels, and beefier brakes, as well as low-profile tires. The 2020 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Trackhawk will use a platform that has a lot in common with the architecture that supports the new generation Ram 1500.
