Redesigned 2020 Ram Power Wagon Spied Testing

A prototype of the 2020 Ram Power Wagon has been spied in Detroit recently. The off-road truck appears to hide a number of changes under the camouflage, so it seems that we are dealing with a totally redesigned model.

Even though it’s completely covered, we know that we are not dealing with the Ram 2500 but with the new Power Wagon thanks to the lighted suspension. Plus, the off-road truck gets 33-inch tires and retains live axle which had been available with the predecessor as well.

Styling-wise, the camo probably hides plenty of new details, likely borrowed from the new Ram 1500 and the amazing Rebel concept. The carmaker will definitely use LED technology this time, as well as Warn services because we see that the new bumper still has a winch that’s rated at 12,000 pounds. In the back, the redesigned off-road pickup truck hosts the unchanged exhaust layout which gives us a good clue of what’s going to be under the hood.

How we see it, the 2020 Ram Power Wagon will rely on the existing 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine. However, it’s unclear whether the option is going to keep the 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque output untouched or not. On the other hand, it’s quite clear that the off-road pickup truck is going to maintain hardcore off-road kits such as locking differentials, both front and rear, and a double-jointed front suspension with a front anti-roll bar disconnect.

The cabin of the 2020 Power Wagon will be totally redesigned. We expect pretty much the same treatment as the 2019 Ram 1500 has got earlier this year. This means that the potential buyers will be able to choose between 8.4-inch and 12-inch touchscreens which are going to be paired with Uconnect 4 infotainment system. The prototype appears to feature the unchanged footprint, so we expect pretty much the same interior space.

The redesigned Ram Power Wagon will be introduced early next year at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show.
