Next-Generation Ram 2500 HD: Redesign Details and Spy Shots

Ram will definitely bring back the next-generation Ram 2500 HD home. The awesome vehicle will come back from Mexico to Michigan at the factory in Warren. However, the information isn’t as fresh as they are these spy shots. The redesigned vehicle which will arrive sometime next year as a 2020 model.

The caught prototype wears plenty of camouflage, but regardless of the fact, we can clearly see the new mesh grille which will come instead of thus far usual crosshair version. The hood looks less bulky, while the headlights should look narrower, which was the case with the smaller 1500 model. Moreover, the overall design will most likely mirror the more popular model, so you can expect pretty much the same rear end and taillights. The cosmetic changes won’t be everything new from the outside. No, because the next-generation Ram 2500 HD is also riding on a new and lighter platform. The lightweight materials will also bring an additional level of rigidity of the truck, while the spy shots reveal a bit longer bodywork.

The extra space will be used for the cabin, so you can expect a higher level of comfort this time. Speaking of the interior, we can’t skip the chance to mention that the pickup truck is going to use a new 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and a lot more standard safety features. As far as we know a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist will be the standard kit of every redesigned Ram 2500 HD model.

The 2020 Ram 2500 HD will use a new system under the hood. The 5.7-liter V8 engine will survive, but it won’t be the same. Instead, the carmaker will improve it with a 48-volt starter-generator and 0.43-kWh lithium-ion battery. In addition, the 6.4-liter V8 will most likely be also one of the powertrain options, while the most capable 6.7-liter turbodiesel should come carried over. Today’s six-speed auto transmission will make space for an eight-speed gearbox.
